I’ve come to the conclusion I hate Take-away or delivered Pizza’s. They are generally unhealthy and pollute our food intake. Most are full of sugar & salt and sub standard ingredients and rarely satisfy and topping that, they cost to much. Therefore why not make your own. The art of making them just needs prep time on the dough but once done you are on the way to a real authentic offering. The ingredients you toss on top can vary accordingly, just don’t over layer. I guarantee the taste & texture will blow you away and it’s hard to imagine you will return to that insipid offering in a box.

  1. Mix the flour, olive oil, yeast, salt and water together in a bowl. Use an electric mixer as the dough should be very elastic with lots of air in it. Cover in a damp tea towel and leave to prove in a warm place for at least an hour; the dough should double in size.
  2. Roll out and stretch half the dough into your designated Pizza shape. Prepare a baking tray with a dusting of flour and lay the dough onto it, pulling into shape to fit the cooking tray.
  3. Mix the tomato puree, equal amount of water and garlic into a paste and brush over the dough.
  4. Place the other ingredients around the dough and top with the mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
  5. Cook in a pre-heated oven at 200c for 10 mins until golden. Remove from oven. The pizza will slip of the tray. Slice to required serving size and dish it out.
