EVERYONE HAS A VOICE – NEVER LET IT BE SILENCED.

Life is like a jigsaw puzzle in many ways. It can be confusing, often difficult, leaving you living on the edge, questioning why you’re here or what you’re doing. If anything, it only makes sense when you finish it and the whole map is set out before you.

I’ve been trying to work out mine for a few years now. It’s been an eclectic mix of disasters, people, triumphs and events, helping mould me into the person I am. It’s something I would never wish to change.

For me writing about my experiences and helping raise awareness of disability, is my way of filling in the pieces, it’s cathartic if you like.

Nothing is impossible in life, if you know what is before you, and you know yourself. Just keep the faith and you will be surprised where it takes you.

We lost Winnie

Before being diagnosed in 1997 with MS, or the main battle front as I see it, I was told I’d picked up a heridatary blood disease called Haemochromatosis. Another incurable, often known as ‘Bronze diabetes’this disease requires regular venesection to get rid of excess iron which if not treated has a danger of depositing itself […]

Ah well, shit happens…

I have lived with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis for over 20 years .  It’s a cruel adversary, but then everyone’s got a monkey on their back, so you just get on with it. Life is pretty good to me, although I’m confined to a wheelchair, I’m pretty independent. I cycle most places, using my hand-cycle and between me […]

There’s no rest for the wicked..

I’ve been hammering the site in the last two weeks, trying to upload as many recipes as possible, they now number over 60. I’m photographing everything I cook, but they still look a little bland. I’m worried they don’t represent the restaurant quality food on offer – you’ll have to trust me on that one, but holding my mobile phone and getting […]

Everton might have lost, but the sun is shining bright.

I was chuffed to get my piece published in The Guardian yesterday. It was great to receive so many positive comments and shares of the article. What’s better I seem to have picked up loads of followers, so its even better having a solid team who want to listen and show support, thanks so much if you are […]

The grass will always be greener at Goodison Park

News that a consortium of American investors, headed by John Moores, are at an advanced stage of discussions, over takeover of Everton, comes on the back of continued rumours about Bill Kenwright’s ill health. Conspicuous in his absence for most of the season, Kenwright’s detractors have continued to voice their concerns that lack of investment is […]

The trials and triumphs of a disabled holidaymaker.

Part 1 – Flying As a regular wheelchair traveller departing to warmer climates at least once a year, Julie, my wife and I, have become use to the rigmaroles of flying and the trials it puts before us. The last winter trip to Mexico was an excellent stay. Thompson the provider, were true to their […]

Making holidays, really wheel…

I’m a big fan of beach holidays, and although confined to a wheelchair with primary progressive multiple sclerosis, I have always found a way to get to the water. Summers in south Devon often involve sweating mates and family, improbable terrain, me hanging onto someone’s back or perching precariously in my chair, before I’m ritually […]
