This excellent side dish, is quick to put together and just pops into the oven for an hour while you get on with your main course. Its a great way to use up those old potatoes and crusty tubs of cream which have been hanging around for too long. A teaspoon of nutmeg gives it an earthy hint, and the black pepper hit rounds off the proceedings perfectly.
Peel the potatoes, and slice thinly. Then crush the garlic.
Mix the cream, milk, garlic, nutmeg , salt and black pepper together.
Toss in the sliced potatoes, then pour all the mixture into a gratin dish or flan dish.
Bake at 140 degrees for 1 hour and fifteen minutes.
Allow 10 minutes to cool, then serve.
