I’ve been hammering the site in the last two weeks, trying to upload as many recipes as possible, they now number over 60. I’m photographing everything I cook, but they still look a little bland. I’m worried they don’t represent the restaurant quality food on offer – you’ll have to trust me on that one, but holding my mobile phone and getting the right angle creates problems.
I would turn my kitchen into a photographic studio but its too small and I’d probably break everything. So I’ll bash on with the Samsung, hope for the best and trust any takers, go with the flow. I might even get Lo-lo to start photo bombing them.
To ramp up the site further on the back of my momentous victory on The One Show, I’ve collaborated with my nephew Rufus who is a film maker. He’s produced the first demo, Pilot episode for The Disabled Chef You Tube show, you might have clocked it on social media.
It took ages to make and was a battle of two minds, but it’s a really good start and something to build on. The Pumping Marvellous Organisation, who assist heart failure patients, have even featured the video on their face book page.
The plan of action is to produce a series of 6 videos cooking a wide repertoire of food, starting in Mexico. My recipe for Chicken/beef fajitas and all the sides is a corker, but the photo does it little justice, hopefully Rufus’s magic will sort that out, or I’ll call on the dog. It’s an apt country to start anyway after my trials on the aeroplane and our recent holiday there.
As ever I got to know most of the people around the pool side, an eclectic mix I can assure you, one of whom was Dave, a musician from Manchester. He’s since, become my brother from another mother and has produced a couple of musical scores for the videos. It’s all good toe tapping stuff, reminding me of Duelling Banjos and Mike Oldfield’s Portsmouth and is a take on Rout of the BluesScarborough Sands. It should blend in well and warm the film and help avoid me getting sued by Joe Strummer’s estate for copyright, having used his songs on the pilot.
So it’s going to be a busy 6 weeks. My nephew is a hard task master and I hate following orders, but between us, I’m confident we’ll bring home the bacon. I’ve then got a big ‘Cod war’ lined up in April (wreck fishing with mates), and before that it’s Bournemouth away in the FA cup this Saturday, which I’ve got a ticket for – there’s no rest for the wicked.
In between that though I’ve got to try and pace myself and avoid any mishaps like last week, when I spasmed out of my chair, hurting my foot. Poor Julie had to drag me across the floor, before hauling me onto the bed, with my arse in her face – she’s a strong woman my wife, in more ways than one. But the good thing is, we’re in it together and ready for what lies ahead.
So as ever my friends, until the next time – onwards and upwards, hold the line and keep the faith.
